Ashurst, Munich: Space concept & Design

For the internationally active law firm Ashurst, a holistic office concept was developed within the listed “Herzog Max” building in the heart of Munich. The aim was to create a workplace that feels both representative and distinctly contemporary in day-to-day use—aligned with the firm’s identity and the specific demands of legal work. The particular appeal, and challenge, lay in the sensitive evolution of the historic fabric.
Working within the tension between heritage and a modern legal practice, the design emphasises discretion, professionalism and a calm, high-quality atmosphere. Bespoke joinery integrates precisely with the existing structures, bringing clarity and order to the spaces without overshadowing the original architecture.
Open communication zones encourage exchange and collaboration, while screened work areas provide reliable quiet and concentration. The result is an office that respects the building’s history while naturally meeting the expectations of an international law firm.
Alongside the workplace concept, the project also covered the full interior architecture, furniture specification and a cohesive colour and material palette. The furnishing strategy is tailored to the firm’s needs—combining ergonomic individual workstations with flexible meeting settings and premium conference areas.
