Fabian Kanal joins BUILTWORLD to discuss “Urban Repair in the Central Quarter – Turning Existing Buildings into a Catalyst for Sustainable Urban Development”
As Operations Manager at CSMM, Fabian Kanal shared insights into the planning and architectural approach behind landN – a refurbishment project at Landwehrstraße 61 in Munich, where an existing building is being transformed into a collaborative network hub.
From an architectural perspective, his talk explored how the principles of “New Work” can be translated into resilient and commercially viable layouts, the role of ground-floor activation and shared spaces in shaping the wider neighbourhood, and how revitalising existing buildings in the station district can be delivered in a socially responsible, functional and visible way.
The discussion was complemented by perspectives from the developer, Urban Progress GmbH, as well as the city’s view on flagship projects within the Central Quarter.
